Today I want to talk to you about the saying “Content is King”. I’m not here to take content’s crown at all, but there is another factor at play here – another monarch.
“If a tree falls in the woods…”
Many of us come at content with a debate of “quality vs. quantity”. It’s obvious that we should always err on the side of quality, but what’s the point of creating quality if nobody sees it? What’s the point of pouring energy into your content if you’re not going to put effort into getting it under people’s noses? It’s kind of like a “if a tree falls in the woods…” kind of quandary. The true power lies in how you get your content out there; how you publicise your content to reach new, interested audiences.
Long Live the Queen
Jonathan Perelman of BuzzFeed coined a great term – “Content is King but Distribution is Queen”. And as I’ve seen it put elsewhere online – she wears the trousers!
So when you’re putting any kind of content strategy together, always have a plan for how you’re going to get your content out there and have your voice heard.
