Today I want to talk to you about just how important it is to create a content strategy – if indeed you are creating content.
Find Your Content Writing Purpose
Whether you’re blogging, podcasting, video-ing, or infographic-ing, you need to ask yourself a few things. Because without a set purpose, content can get a bit lost. Directionless. Dare I say it, pointless.
What kind of content are you going to create? Who are you making it for? How are they going to find it? How does it tie to your own offering? By starting to ask yourself questions like these, you can start to make purposeful decisions with your content.
As a professional wordsmith, you know I love a good pithy line, and this one comes from author and storyteller Arjun Basu – “Without strategy, content is just stuff, and the world has enough stuff.”
So if your content strategy is little more than “whatever I feel like posting whenever I feel like posting it”, then I’d advise you formulate a strategy. I’ve put together a useful blog post (with downloadable PDF option) to help you start asking the right questions about your content and your audience.
